Paper punches are a simple way to make repeated shapes and use smaller paper scraps. A few circles, flowers or borders can bring a handmade card or gift wrap together.
Dress up gift wrap
Punch circles or stars from coordinating scraps and attach them to plain wrapping paper. Three differently sized circles can become a snowman, while layered flowers make a pretty gift topper.
Create a layered card
Arrange punched shapes across a cardstock base before sticking them down. Repeat one shape in several colours, or combine a few sizes for a balanced design. Foam pads add dimension where a raised finish suits the card.
Decorate an envelope
Add a small punched motif to an envelope flap or use a border punch on a separate paper band. Keep the address area and postage position clear if you plan to mail the card.
Make a garland or wreath
Layer punched leaves and flowers around a cardstock ring, or attach repeated shapes to twine. A consistent palette makes even simple shapes look coordinated.
Choose the right paper
Check the punch’s recommended paper weight and avoid forcing it through materials it was not designed to cut. Save flat scraps by colour so they are ready for your next project.
