Make a small Easter basket from cardstock, then decorate it with patterned paper and a simple handle. It is a cheerful project for wrapped treats or lightweight party favours.
Materials
- A 6 × 6-inch piece of cardstock
- Patterned paper, adhesive and a scoring board
- Scissors, paper flowers or stickers
- Paper shred and individually wrapped treats
Make a nine-square grid
Score the cardstock at 2 and 4 inches. Rotate it a quarter turn and repeat. You now have nine equal squares, each measuring 2 × 2 inches.
On two opposite edges, cut along the two score lines only as far as the first crossing line. Fold all score lines, bring the corner squares inward and adhere them to form the basket sides. Dry-fit the shape before gluing.
Decorate the sides
Cut four patterned-paper squares approximately 1.75 × 1.75 inches and attach one to each outside face. Cut a handle strip around 0.5 × 5 inches, then secure its ends inside opposite sides of the basket.
Add the finishing touches
Decorate with paper flowers, stickers or a small name tag. Fill with a little paper shred and lightweight, wrapped treats. The paper handle is decorative, so support the basket underneath when carrying it.
