Our polymer clay jewellery workshop explored how colour, texture and simple shapes can become wearable pieces. This article looks back at that session and the techniques behind the projects.
Conditioning and shaping
Condition the clay until it is workable, then roll it to an even thickness. Cut a simple shape or combine a few colours for a marbled effect. A small sample helps you judge the scale before making a matching pair.
Texture and colour
Use suitable texture tools, cutters or stamps to add detail. Keep the design balanced and avoid making delicate areas too thin. Plan any holes needed for the jewellery findings before curing, where appropriate.
Curing and assembly
Follow the clay manufacturer’s stated temperature, time and handling instructions. Different brands and thicknesses can have different requirements. Allow the pieces to cool before attaching suitable findings.
