Give clean, empty bottles a festive second life with red paint, paper belts and a gold “JOY” detail. Three similar bottles make a coordinated display for a shelf or table.
Materials
- Three clean, empty bottles
- Red chalk paint and a sponge brush
- Black cardstock, gold glitter cardstock and adhesive
- Jute cord and suitable varnish
- Paper or compatible wooden JOY letters
Clean and paint
Remove the labels and any adhesive residue, then wash and dry the bottles thoroughly. Dab on thin coats of compatible chalk paint with a sponge brush, letting each coat dry as directed.
Add Santa-style belts
Cut black cardstock strips approximately 1.5 inches wide and fit them around the bottles. Make a buckle from a 1.75-inch gold square layered with a 1.5-inch black square. Attach the paper pieces once the painted finish is ready.
Finish the display
Cut JOY letters from cardstock, or use a material and cutting tool compatible with your machine. Paint wooden letters gold if desired, then hang one letter on each bottle with jute cord.
Wrap a little cord around the bottle necks for a coordinated finish. Keep the bottles as decorative pieces and use battery-powered lights if adding illumination.
