This flower pot card holds a pull-out message decorated with paper flowers. It is a thoughtful design for birthdays, thank-you notes and any occasion that calls for a little colour.
Prepare the pot
Start with brown cardstock measuring 9 × 3.5 inches. Score the long side at 2 and 5.5 inches, then fold the score lines in opposite directions so the 2-inch flap sits at the front.
Decorate the front flap with a border punch. Open the flap, mark about half an inch in from each lower side edge, and trim the sides to create the tapered flowerpot shape. Refer to the project image before cutting.
Make the message insert
Cut brown cardstock to 4.5 × 2.5 inches and layer it with white cardstock measuring 4.25 × 2.25 inches. Leave enough space to write your message.
Add flowers and finish
Punch or cut flower shapes from coloured paper and arrange them across the top of the insert. Keep the flowers clear of the section that slides into the pot.
Slide the message into place, then tie ribbon around the pot to hold its folded shape. Add a small greeting to the front if you like. Test that the insert slides out comfortably before giving the card.
