Make a milk carton-shaped paper box for wrapped sweets, small gifts or classroom favours. Coordinating patterned paper and a simple closure give the box a neat finish.
Materials
- Cardstock measuring 9.5 × 6.75 inches
- A scoring board, paper trimmer and scissors
- Patterned paper and double-sided tape
- A small peg, or a hole punch and twine
Score the base
Along the 9.5-inch side, score at 2.25, 4.5, 6.75 and 9 inches. Along the 6.75-inch side, score at 2.25 and 4.5 inches. The narrow strip at the edge forms the joining tab.
Fold the score lines and use the original project photos to identify the bottom flaps and roof sections. Cut the bottom tabs up to the first horizontal score line and trim the excess at the joining tab.
Assemble and cover
Join the side seam with double-sided tape, then fold and secure the base. Add four patterned-paper panels measuring about 2 × 2 inches and two smaller panels about 2 × 1.5 inches, adjusting them to the areas shown in the photos.
Close the carton
Gently pinch the top into the carton shape. Close it with a small peg, or punch matching holes and tie with twine. Add a tag and fill with lightweight, wrapped treats after the adhesive has dried.
